How It Works

  1. Pregame Projections

    Before puck drop, each game gets a projection built from recent pace, team period history, and goalie context. It sets the baseline the live model starts from.

  2. Live Play-by-Play

    Once the game starts, every shot, goal, and clock change is folded in as it happens. Shot quality is scored by danger, not just by the goal count.

  3. Period Probabilities

    Scoring probabilities for the current and next period update throughout the game, so you can see how the picture is shifting.

  4. Pulse Pressure Index and Commentary

    The Pulse Engine blends pace, scoring probability, momentum, and team scoring history into one Pulse Pressure Index from 0 to 100, with a plain-language note on the main drivers.

The VantageAlpha Pulse Engine

Pulse combines expected-goals modeling, scoring-probability models, and simulation. Before each game, scoring outcomes are simulated many times. During play, the estimates update with every shot.
